I could use a few ideas -- ART CONTEST WIN $250

Obligatory art contest screaming/yelling:

That said, anyone have ideas for good places to advertise on the cheap? I'm going to try and advertise on tegaki, I considered adCast but because that would go out to all the areas on the site, it didn't make good financial sense to me. I'm aiming for places a bit more targeted to artists.

(I also considered Project Wonderful, but, how many webcomic readers are artists? Probably not so many.)

So, anyone have any recommendations? (Or should I do adCast? Would it really be effective in this situation?)

I just want to let every artist possible know about the contest, ridiculous as that may be!

It could be really interesting, actually, to see what adCast would do for a contest turnout. If nothing more, it'd be a great case study!

You could also make a "news" article, as I've seen these work very well for some people in the past.

Also, if you have the equipment -- YouTube. I have also seen some spiffy deviantart contest videos there that got a big turnout -- apparently people regularly search the word "art contest" on youtube. Wtf?

There is, of course, the Contest Forum here at dA.

Check out `oibyrd's journal entry.

Ummm...I had more ideas, but my brain just stopped.

Is AdCast the same thing as DeviantArt Notices? Because I think those are open for purchasing ads.
:iconemperial:
Oh my gosh, you are a veritable library of information! *devours* People are actually allowed to make news articles? XD I didn't know that! I'll have to look into it.

I store trivia like whoa! XD It's a habit. I am a miniature wikipedia.

I store trivia, too, but mostly stuff about outer space and television/movies. I can tell you the classification scale for stars, the names of Jupiter's moons, and what movies Luc Besson has both written and directed! Slightly pointless under the circumstances. XD

Yep, that's it! I'm just wary about doing a site-wide announcement that's only viewed by non-subscribers and is a wee bit expensive for clicks that may 95% be from people who won't enter. I mena, I love how much dA has in so many mediums, but photographers, for example, don't have anything to do for my contest. Writers -- again, not much to do. I would be counting on the idea that hopefully some of those clicks would actually be artists who draw characters.

Although there is the point of using adCast to attract people to advertise the contest to try and win the referral prizes. I'm still on the fence about it. Ponder ponder ponder!

My favorite piece of useless trivia: I memorized Dante's circles of hell when I was twelve. I was bored that day and found the book in my grandpa's library.
