Obligatory art contest screaming/yelling:
That said, anyone have ideas for good places to advertise on the cheap? I'm going to try and advertise on tegaki, I considered adCast but because that would go out to all the areas on the site, it didn't make good financial sense to me. I'm aiming for places a bit more targeted to artists.
(I also considered Project Wonderful, but, how many webcomic readers are artists? Probably not so many.)
So, anyone have any recommendations? (Or should I do adCast? Would it really be effective in this situation?)
I just want to let every artist possible know about the contest, ridiculous as that may be!

You could also make a "news" article, as I've seen these work very well for some people in the past.
Also, if you have the equipment -- YouTube. I have also seen some spiffy deviantart contest videos there that got a big turnout -- apparently people regularly search the word "art contest" on youtube. Wtf?
There is, of course, the Contest Forum here at dA.
Check out `oibyrd's journal entry.
Ummm...I had more ideas, but my brain just stopped.

Although there is the point of using adCast to attract people to advertise the contest to try and win the referral prizes. I'm still on the fence about it. Ponder ponder ponder!
